Fan Crystal Thornton who died during, yet survived Lady Gaga concert
How is this story for a new twist on the pop madness that is all things Lady Gaga?
Gaga rocked out Nashville back on Tuesday at the Bridgestone Arena and one of her “little monsters,” 33-year-old Crystal Thornton from Lyles, Tennessee, died during the opening act performance by Semi Precious Weapons!
Died, right there at her seat but thankfully some extremely well-trained paramedics with Vanderbilt University’s LifeFlight Event Medicine program attended to her immediately and were able to resuscitate her on site.
First responder and supervisor Jerry Jones was by her side within a minute and found Thornton unconscious with no heartbeat. He and paramedic Shane Clark whipped out a portable automated external defibrillator (AED) and for over five minutes worked and succeeded at getting her heart beating again! She was then rushed to Vanderbilt University’s Medical Center where physicians cooled her down with a process called therapeutic hypothermia protocol to keep her from suffering possible brain damage.
As of Friday Crystal (seen above) was still at the hospital recovering and doctors are indicating that she suffers from an enlarged heart. She is set to undergo surgery today to have an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) which will automatically restore her heartbeat if she ever experiences another cardiac arrest.
In true hard-core “little monster” fashion Thornton had this to say:
“I am so mad I missed the concert.”
