REPORTS MTV will soon have three docuseries about pregnancy and motherhood

Teen Mom - Mom TV

Last winter, there were reports that MTV was pulling the plug on Teen Mom 2 after five seasons. Then the network continued the show for an extra “half season,” reportedly to avoid the contract negotiations that come before another full round of episodes. And now sources report the network wants to continue the show through 2015 with a sixth season!

“The producers know the show is a success, and it’s not going anywhere,” an insider told Radar Online of the hit show, which was cable’s highest-rated original show last Wednesday.

For further evidence that MTV plans to stand by its oft-controversial, undeniably popular series came this summer when the network confirmed it’s reviving the original Teen Mom (minus Farrah) for a new season in 2015. That programming commitment will also give the Teen Mom 2 girls a longer break from filming than they’ve experienced in a while.

“It was stressful,” a source said of how the last round of production affected Leah Calvert, Chelsea Houska, Jenelle Evans and Kailyn Lowry. “For now, the girls are excited to have some time off to just concentrate on their families.”

If the reports of a sixth season are accurate, new episodes likely won’t air until late 2015. In the meantime, MTV will not only offer up more Teen Mom, but also a brand-new pregnancy show about young moms who need to break the news about their expectant state to overseas lovers.

“MTV is looking for outspoken women who are in this complicated, emotional situation and want to tell their story,” a recent casting call from MTV said, according to The Ashley’s Reality Roundup. “This is an opportunity to find the father of your child and possibly come to a resolution. We will follow your journey as you revisit the country where it all happened and attempt to connect with the father of your baby.”

Looks like MTV will keep its unofficial title as Mom TV for a while longer!
