PHOTOS Abercrombie & Fitch’s line of Jersey Shore themed shirts
It seems Abercrombie & Fitch were a bit hypocritical when they issued a press release yesterday announcing they had offered money to the cast members of MTV’s Jersey Shore (Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino in particular) if they would stop wearing their clothes.
In the press release (you can read the full release HERE) the clothing company states they believe any association with the show and its cast would be “contrary to the aspirational nature of our brand, and may be distressing to many of our fans.” But, just last year the clothing brand was embracing the G.T.L. lifetstyle with a line of Jersey Shore inspired shirts, including one that simply said “The Fitchuation!”
UPDATE – JWoww just offered up her response to the Abercrombie & Fitch/Jersey Shore controversy and made reference to these shirts! From JWoww:
Who tells people not to shop at there store?! I WOULD NEVER discriminate anyone from buying my clothes because i love all my fans!!! Regardless of PR stunts or the fact A&F made tshirts last year to profit off our show, i want my fans to shop where they want to and express yourself with your clothes. A&F are followers anyways… Rock your own look and style! Screw the haters 😉
In addition to The Fitchuation shirt the line also featured the “G.T.L. [You know the deal] Fitch” shirt at the top of this post as well as these next three:
“Come At Me Bro” Abercrombie & Fitch Jersey Shore themed shirt.
“What Happens In Jersey Should Stay In Jersey” Abercrombie & Fitch Jersey Shore themed shirt.
“Hot Tub, Bedroom, Business, Bed. A & F” Abercrombie & Fitch Jersey Shore themed shirt.
And here’s one of the shirts in action with perhaps the one Jersey Shore cast member A&F should have approached about not wearing their clothes:
In addition to being hypocritical the company is also just plain dumb because their stock plummeted 9% today, the first trading session since the infamous offer.
There is no word if Aeropostale suffered a similar fate after they asked Teen Mom’s Gary Shirley to stop wearing their clothes.
