While the rest of the world is in a blind rage at Pia Toscano’s incredulous eviction from American Idol last night after a stunning and powerful rendition of “River Deep, Mountain High,” Pia herself was all smiles as she was spotted out and about in Los Angeles earlier today.
We here at starcasm have been downright brazen in our support of Pia on AI this season, and much like the judges our hearts were hardened when it was revealed she had been voted off of the competition last night. But, if Pia can smile today then perhaps we can allow our hearts to be softened a bit. (See? Just another indication of Pia’s awesomeness!)

We’re still holding out hope that Fox will do something drastic that would allow Pia to return – perhaps introducing a “Redemption Island” on which exiled performers can compete in front of a B-list judges’ panel for a chance to come back? An even better idea would be to allow the judges a mulligan in addition to their allotment of one save so they can boot the Nirvana neutering Casey Abrams and “save” Pia. These are just some ideas off the top of my head.
(Pia has softened my heart, but that doesn’t mean my eyes aren’t still salty and it doesn’t mean I’ll be tuning back in to American Idol either.)
