Emily Maynard’s happily ever after just got a bit happier: The former Bachelorette star welcomed a son with husband Tyler Johnson today.
“God is good. My heart can’t even handle it,” she said on Instagram, where she shared the sweet picture of her cuddling with the baby boy.
Emily has an older daughter, Ricki, who was born after Emily’s fiancé passed away. Emily went on to get engaged to Brad Womack on The Bachelor and then Jef Holm on The Bachelorette. She and Tyler married in June 2014. She announced her pregnancy in January.
Speaking to Charlotte’s WCCB in May, Emily said she was excited to welcome a baby under different circumstances than the first time around.
“When Ricki was born, it was a really hard time in my life, and I was so young that I really don’t think I enjoyed it or soaked it in as much as I wish I could have,” Emily said. “I’m just really looking forward to getting up with him and feeding him….Ask me after he’s been here for a month if I’m still excited, but right now, that’s what I’m looking forward to.”
Even though the couple knew they were having a boy, Emily said during the May interview that she and Tyler still couldn’t agree on a name.
“I told Tyler that [if] he gets to pick the last name for everybody, then I should pick the first name, and if he wanted to pick the first name, then it can take my last name and be a Maynard,” she joked. “He did not like that. We’re still compromising.”
So far, there’s no word on their final decision.
