Naya Rivera files for divorce from husband Ryan Dorsey after Thanksgiving assault arrest
Glee actress Naya Rivera has officially filed for divorce from her husband, actor Ryan Dorsey. The filing comes less than two weeks after she was arrested and charged with assault stemming from an altercation at his parents’ house over the Thanksgiving holiday.
As you may have guessed, Naya cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason that the two are ending their marriage after three-and-a-half years. TMZ reports that Naya is asking for joint custody of their two-year-old son Josey, and she also requests that neither party be able to receive spousal support.
This is actually the second time Naya has filed for divorce (that we know of). She previously filed back in 2016, but later withdrew the request.
TMZ says Naya’s arrest was the last straw, and lists the date of their separation as November 24.
In case you missed it, Naya Rivera was arrested and booked in Kanawha County jail on November 25 after she allegedly hit her husband Ryan Dorsey in the head during a dispute over their son Josey. Ryan called 911 and when police arrived he showed them a video recording of the altercation that the officer says “supported Mr. Dorsey’s account of the incident.” Naya was charged with domestic battery and was out on $1,000 bond the following day.
Ryan’s video has not been released, but audio of the 911 call he made has — you can click here for the full recording and transcript.
Naya and Ryan married in July of 2014, just a few months after her engagement to rapper Big Sean ended. They welcomed their son Josey in September 2015.
