Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones split
Hollywood super-couple Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones have reportedly separated after nearly 13 years according to the cover story in this week’s People magazine. Douglas, 68, and Zeta-Jones, 43, were last photographed together on April 22 (above) and according to the magazine, they decided to split after he returned from the Cannes Film Festival in May. Since that time they have been photographed separately at events, and most recently Michael Douglas has been seen vacationing on a yacht with the couple’s children off the coast of Sardinia while Zeta-Jones remained at home in New York.
The last few years have been hard on the A-list couple, with Michael Douglas being diagnosed with throat cancer in 2010 and Catherine Zeta-Jones returning to a facility to treat her bipolar II disorder in late April. The “two close confidantes” for the magazine point out that neither Catherine or Michael has filed for divorce or moved toward a legal separation at this point. “They want the best for their kids, no matter what happens,” a family friend adds.
Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas have two children together, Dylan, 13, and Carys, 10.
