Mackenzie McKee’s mom Angie Douthit’s cancer spreads to her bones & adrenal gland

Mackenzie McKee and mom Angie Douthit

It has been just over four months since Angie Douthit, the mother of Teen Mom 3 star Mackenzie McKee, was first diagnosed with cancer in her lungs and brain — and since that time she has been sharing her cancer battle journey with her social media followers and with MTV cameras. Unfortunately, Angie’s update earlier today was some very bad news — but Angie delivered it with her amazingly steadfast positivity.

Angie began her post by revealing that she and her husband Brad Douthit had received the results from her most recent PET scan on Wednesday. “Brad and I sat in silence as we drove through the rain to my appt. yesterday. We both knew God was in control of what we were going to learn and that’s all that matters,” Angie said.

She then shared the results from the test. “The new information from my pet scan was not what we wanted to hear. The tumor in my lung is bigger. And the cancer is now in my adrenal gland and is in my pelvic bone.”

More from Angie:

I was trying to digest all of this and I asked, “In the bone? Isn’t that bad?” She looked at me and said, “In the brain is bad! You’ve been bad since you came to us in January!” So, they think something else is going on besides the mutation or the chemo pill would’ve taken care of it. I had more intense blood work done and another MRI. No results from those yet. I will have a biopsy on the adrenal gland next week. They r scheduling me for a second opinion in KC sometime next week. I know it’s not what you wanted to hear. Me either! But I still trust God. He knew this would happen. As I lay in the MRI machine I asked Jesus to hold my hand. He did and the greatest peace came over me. My entire life is in God’s hands. He doesn’t do what we tell him to do, he knows our hearts and our desires and he blessed us with what’s best for us. We just have to trust him. Whatever you’re going through today, ask Jesus to hold your hand and to walk with you. God loves us so much. I believe in the Healer. Trust him today with your very life. Keep smiling and keep loving others. God is a very good God and there’s someone out there who needs you to tell them. #alwaysbekind #staystrongmightywarrior

Mackenzie took to Instagram to share her response to the bad news, and to express her continued admiration for the strength, love, and kindness Angie has demonstrated throughout her treatment over the last four months:

O mom, you are so amazing. Idk how you are touching lives all around the world of people who have never met you but you are. You have such a strong message to share and you are not scared to shout it to the roof tops. You don’t deserve this, none of it. So happy, so healthy, and so faithful to God. Stage four cancer in your lungs, in your brain, and now in your bones. And not once have you questioned Gods love for you. You are truly praising him in the storms and yet again being the glue to my life. As many already know we did not get a good update yesterday and this dollar coaster is exhausting and expensive. One thing you wish people would do is to remain healthy and take care of your body and to #alwaysbekind. You helped me with my #bodybymac 3 month program and have always been my number one cheerleader through this all. So this weekend All purchased on my fitness at home workout programs will go towards the cost of all travel expenses and medication because your so good and telling people to stop complaining, get off their butts, and get active. So here is to donating and getting healthy at the same time. ???. Visit www.bodybymac.com or click the link in my bio

Angie really has turned her heart-breaking story into one of inspiration for so many people. Our thoughts remain with her, her friends, and her family as she continues her battle — and we look forward to seeing her emotional journey on MTV.
