Lady GaGa promotes MAC AIDS fund lipstick Viva Glam GaGa; tells women to stick a condom in their purse
Lady GaGa is one smart cookie. For all her outrageous outfits and theatrics, she’s probably one of the most organized, hardworking, and responsible – yes responsible – pop stars now, or ever. And it’s paid off: her addictive dance tunes and spectacular performances have been rewarded with five #1 singles from her first album and a secure position in history.
GaGa is using her fame and glory to team up with MAC and their AIDS fund. March 13 MAC will be releasing a pink shade much like MAC’s Pink Nouveau which goes on light but can get darker with multiple applications, called Viva Glam GaGa. This do-good lipstick will only set you back $14, and all proceeds from the sale of Viva Glam GaGa will go toward the MAC AIDS fund, which has raised over $135 million since 1994.
GaGa isn’t just promoting a lipstick, she’s also promoting smart living for young women. In the March 2010 issue of Marie Claire this sensible pop tart encourages her fans (who she affectionately calls “monsters”) to get HIV tests and pop a condom in their purse next to their Viva Glam GaGa lipstick. She says:
“‘I want it to be a reminder when you go out at night to put a condom in your purse right next to your lipstick. Let’s be strong women together. You put that condom in your purse and you save your own f**king life . . . I want it to be fashionable to be smart.”
Kudos GaGa! This is definitely one of the best messages to send out to young people.
The fabulous Cyndi Lauper also has a MAC lipstick coming out in March that benefits MAC AIDS Fund, Viva Glam Cyndi. She’s featured in the ad above with GaGa.
