Kim Cattrall said fizzy yoga saved her life, but what is the fitness trend?

Kim Cattrall, a lifelong cardio addict, recently admitted her go-to routine has drastically changed within the past few year. And it’s working! At 57-years-old, the Sex and the City star still has a body that puts many 20-somethings to shame.

“As I get older, I find that cardio is less important to me,” Kim told The London Times. “What I want to do more of is intense stretching.”

To get the kind of deep stretching she desires, Kim turned to physioyoga or “fizzy yoga.” Unlike its traditional cousin, fizzy yoga is rooted in physical therapy-approved moves that help practitioners avoid or recover from injuries.

“I’m not worried about injuring myself because a regular yoga instructor isn’t versed in the way of the body like a trained physio (instructor) is,” Kim said of why she’s attracted to the up-and-coming fitness trend. She added that it’s saved her life while performing stage show Sweet Birth of Youth in London.

Prior to joining the show, Kim’s right knee gave out and she struggled to rehabilitate it with pure physical therapy. Only when she began working with London-based physioyoga specialist Helen O’Neill did Kim get back into working shape.

“I think Helen’s really got her finger on something that women my age can use to make our lives pain-free.”
