Kendall Jenner responds to “too thin” criticism
Kendall Jenner may be just 17-years-old, but this girl already has it all. She’s on a hit TV show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, she has an amazing family, and her modeling career is booming. Despite all of that, Kendall still has one major issue in her life — she’s being bullied for her weight.
“I’m constantly criticized for being too skinny,” Kendall tells Harper’s Bazaar Arabia. “I’m trying to gain weight but my body won’t let it happen. What people don’t understand is that calling someone too skinny is the same as calling someone too fat. It’s not a nice feeling.”
Luckily, Kendall has a big support system in her sisters — specifically her three older sisters Kourtney, Kim, and Khloe. “I go to them for different things,” she says. “Khloe is like my second mom, so whenever my little sister [Kylie] and I are fighting or we’re fighting with our parents, we call Khloe. Kourtney is very realistic with things. She will tell you the cold, hard truth, even if it will make you cry, so whatever you’re dealing with, if you want to talk to her, she’ll be very realistic.”
As for Kim, Kendall says she’s “super smart and really tech-savvy” and has “been through a lot, so we can go to Kim with anything and she’ll have literally the best advice.”
Since Keeping Up With The Kardashians became a mega-hit, Kendall has learned to open up a bit from her typically reserved self and that’s been a bonus for her professionally, especially since signing with Wilhelmina Models in 2010. “I used to be so shy. I used to never talk, just sit back and do my thing,” she says. “I am still pretty shy, but I’ve gotten much better because I’m always on set for photo shoots and I’m always filming with my family.”
With three super famous sisters, some might think that Kendall could be intimidated or feel as though she’s living in their shadows, but Kendall does not. “I’m trying my best with what I want to do, which is modeling. I think I’m on my own career path and I don’t really care what other people have to say about me being in the spotlight of my sisters,” she tells Harper’s Bazaar Arabia. “I’m just doing my own thing.”
