Jimmy McMillan, ‘Rent Is Too Damn High’ party rep runs for Governor of New York
Jimmy McMillan is running for Governor of New York and his platform is simple. As a matter of fact his platform is a singular issue that is also the name of his political party, “Rent Is Too Damn High.”
Check out the following video of McMillan from just before his big appearance at the seven member debate for Governor of New York held on October 18th, 2010.
“I’ve come here tonight to let you people know that there is someone here fighting for low rent.” – Jimmy McMillan Representative for Rent Is Too Damn High
The New York Times blogged live from the debate and only confirmed what everyone suspected before hand. Mr. McMillan was the unquestioned star of the night. When the candidates were asked if they support gay marriage here is what Mr. McMillan had to say:
“The Rent Is Too Damn High Party feels if you want to marry a shoe, I’ll marry you.”
The Times went on to say of McMillan:
In an evening that at times resembled a disorganized high school debate, Mr. McMillan seemed to steal the spotlight from his fellow candidates. His lyrical repetition of his party’s strict anti-high-rent platform — “Rent Is Too-o-o-o Da-a-a-mn High” — consistently roused the audience, which was whooping its support by the end of the evening.
Folks, we have a political star in the making!
