Jenelle Evans and Gary Head appear in court for June arrests

Jenelle Evans and Gary Head

Jenelle Evans and her ex-fiance Gary Head appeared in court today for charges stemming from their arrests last month. The two engaged in a heated argument on the night of Saturday, June 23, which Jenelle claims led to Gary getting violent with her and even choking her with a bed sheet. She allegedly retaliated by punching him and called the cops. The two were both arrested early the next morning and handed assault and drug related charges after a small amount of marijuana and a single Klonopin were found in the house.

Gary was charged with Possession of Marijuana up to 1/2 OZ, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Assault on a Female, and Simple Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance.

Jenelle was charged with simple assault, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and simple possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance for a single Klonopin (Clonazepam).

After her court appearance earlier today, Jenelle took to Twitter to announce, “So court got continued and I denied the plea offer and I’m taking it to trail [sic].” It is typical for a case like to be continued to trial. There are many things to take into account an there are very serious issues involved. Often a judge will try and get a defendant to plead guilty to a lesser charge as to cut down on time.

UPDATE – We spoke with Jenelle’s attorney, Dustin Sullivan, who said, “[Jenelle’s] court date was continued to August 27 to allow the D.A. to speak with the investigators some more about the incident.” He goes on to clarify, “No formal plea offer was made.”

Jenelle later added, “What do you think happened at court today? Kieffer chased after my ex when we took a break for lunch and it kicked off court grounds while my ex chilled with the cops scared. Got continued because they are looking into more evidence about the abuse and I denied their plea bargain.”

Since Jenelle didn’t agree to the deal, she will get to plead her case at a later date.
