HBO’s “Girls” New York City Premiere red carpet photos
Some may consider The CW’s prequel The Carrie Diaries to be the heiress to the Sex and the City estrogenized Big Apple experience throne, but I believe the “Women in New York City” drama everyone will be talking about is the HBO series simply titled Girls.
Here are the preview trailers:
Set to premiere on HBO April 15, Girls stars its creator Lena Dunham (Tiny Furniture) as well as Allison Williams, Zosia Mamet, and Jemima Kirke in what is described as “a comic look at the assorted humiliations and rare triumphs of a group of girls in their early 20s.”
If you’ve seen Tiny Furniture then you know Lena Dunham is a brilliant, fresh, and creative talent with a wonderfully humble and insightful take on what it’s like to be a young woman in America today. But, just in case you still had your doubts, consider that Judd Apatow (Freaks and Geeks, The Larry Sanders Show, The 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, etc) is an executive producer on the project (along with Dunham and Jenni Konner).
How about a clip of Dunham and Apatow discussing the show?
But don’t think I’m the only one who is excited about Girls! Check out all the big names who turned out for the New York City Premiere of Girls Wednesday night including Chloe Sevigny, Claire Danes, Kyra Sedgwick, Kevin Bacon, Sandra Bernhard, and Steve Buscemi! But first, let’s take a gander at the ladies we’ll all be referring to by their characters’ first names by the end of the season:
^ Lena Dunham as Hannah (wearing Forevermark Pave Diamond Studs)
^ Zosia Mamet as ??? (IMDB doesn’t seem to know and neither do I!)
And here are the rest of the stars! (Click thumbnails to enlarge)
And since it was a comedy premiere, the stars were given pens and sheets of paper with incomplete statements for them to fill out. Thus, comedy (and penis drawings) ensued!
Girls premieres on HBO Sunday night, April 15, at 10:30pm. You can keep up with the show on Facebook and Twitter!
