Florida man run over by own truck during road rage incident
FYI, If you’re gonna go into road rage mode you might wanna put that there pick up truck in park first.
This Floridariffic scene all started when 48-year-old Joseph Howard Carl drove his pick up truck into the rear end of a vehicle stopped at a traffic light during a downpour Tuesday evening in Gainesville, Florida.
Like any reasonable person who just ran into someone else would, Carl hopped out of his truck, made his way to the driver’s side of the car he rammed and started banging on the window and yelling at the woman who was driving. The lady was frightened by Carl’s actions and drove away from the scene.
This lady’s fleeing became a problem for ol’ Joseph Howard because he apparently forgot to put his Dodge 1500 in park before exiting to get all road ragey and whatnot. When the other vehicle sped off, Carl’s truck powered forward. He put his arms out trying to stop his own ride with arm brakes – a reaction that predictably failed. The result… Joseph Howard Carl got himself run over by his own truck.
Cops and paramedics arrived but the Florida man refused any assistance.
According to Gainseville.com, Carl smelled of alcohol and police found an open and cool 16-oz. can of Miller High Life along with numerous other empty beer cans in his own truck that ran him over. He failed field sobriety tests and refused a breathalyzer as records show that his license had been suspended way back in ’91 for refusing a breath sample.
Joseph Howard eventually informed the police that his foot hurt so he was taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated for fractures in his foot and hand from his own truck having run over him.
Carl was arrested on charges of DUI and DUI with property damage. He had a BAL nearly 3 times the legal limit in the Sunshine State.
