Cynthia Nixon marries longtime girlfriend Christine Marinoni
3 years ago Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon got engaged to girlfriend Christine Marinoni at a rally to support same-sex marriage rights in New York City. At the time the union was not legal but the law has since changed and now the two have officially tied the knot.
A rep confirmed to PEOPLE:
“On May 27, 2012, Cynthia Nixon and her girlfriend, Christine Marinoni, were legally married in the state of New York. Nixon wore a custom dress by Carolina Herrera.”
Nixon made some controversial remarks back in January when she stated in a interview that being gay was her choice. In part she said, “I understand that for many people, it’s not, but for me, it’s a choice, and you don’t get to define my gayness for me.”
Nixon has 2 children from a previous relationship with photographer Danny Mozes. She also shares one child with Marinoni who gave birth to their son, Max Ellington Nixon-Marinoni, in February 2011.
The two have been together since 2004.
