Bill Hudson says kids Oliver and Kate Hudson are “dead” to him, asks them to stop using ‘Hudson’
On Father’s Day, both Oliver and Kate Hudson paid tribute to Kurt Russell, mother Goldie Hawn’s partner of more than 30 years and the man they affectionately refer to as “Pa.”
For biological dad Bill Hudson, the message was much different: In the caption of an old picture of he and Kate with Bill, Oliver only said “Happy abandonment day.”
Now, Bill has retaliated, saying he no longer recognizes his two oldest children as his own.
“I had five birth children but I now consider myself a father of three,” Bill told Sunday’s Daily Mail. “I would ask them to stop using the Hudson name. They are no longer a part of my life. Oliver’s Instagram post was a malicious, vicious, premeditated attack. He is dead to me now. As is Kate. I am mourning their loss even though they are still walking this earth.”
Bill said he blames ex-wife Goldie Hawn for pushing him out of Oliver and Kate’s lives so she could “create this myth of a perfect family with Kurt.”
“When we split up, she never had a bad word to say about me,’ he says. ‘But when Kurt came on the scene, the narrative changed and I became the big, bad wolf,” Bill claimed. “I would say to her ‘Goldie, why are you trashing me and saying I’m an absent father when it’s simply not the case?’ And she’d laugh and go, ‘Oh Bill, you know it makes for a better story.'”
He said Oliver and Kate sided with their mom by rejecting his attempts to stay in their lives. He also accused Goldie of cheating during their marriage and leaving months-old Kate for months to film a movie in Europe. “I wanted a traditional marriage but Goldie couldn’t settle. Eventually I moved out,” he said.
In the following years, he said maintained a good relationship with Oliver and Kate, despite Goldie’s attempts to “freeze” him out: “I never abandoned my family. I never walked away. I wanted to be a father to Kate and Oliver but Goldie made it harder and harder for me to see them. It’s all about control. What Goldie wants, Goldie gets.”
Bill said he never stopped trying to build a relationship with Oliver and Kate — until Oliver’s Instagram post last week. He said he’s since removed pictures of them from his house and threw out their baby booties, which he kept in his car for good luck.
“What shocks me is that this was clearly premeditated. He chose the photograph and posted it on Father’s Day, when he knew it would cause maximum pain,” Bill said, suggesting Oliver did it to make headlines because he “has lived in the shadow of his mother and sister all his life.”
He added, “If what he wanted was me out of their lives, then he’s succeeded. I don’t want to see either of my eldest children ever again. It’s over.” Goldie, Oliver and Kate did not respond to The Daily Mail‘s request for comment and have not publicly reacted.
