Lamar Odom makes deal for professional basketball comeback

Laboral Kuxta - Euroleague - Lamar Odom

NBA star-turned-drugged out rapper Lamar Odom is officially launching his basketball comeback with Spain’s Laboral Kutxa.

ESPN’s Marc Stein confirmed the former Lakers power forward made a deal with the Euroleague team when another player was sidelined by injury.

Club president Josean Querejeta later confirmed Lamar signed a two-month contract with an option to extend through the end of the season.

“We’re very happy to have signed a very important player who has had a long and fruitful career in the NBA,” Josean Querejeta said in a statement. “We’ve worked very hard over the last couple of days to make this happen, we felt we needed a boost and had to break the collective cloud that has been hanging over us over the last while so we could get back to winning.”

Laboral Kutxa is currently ranked ninth in the 18-team Euroleague. The team is in last place for its group. ESPN reports deals like Lamar’s generally include clauses that allow the players to return to the NBA if an opportunity becomes available. Sources close to Lamar said he plans to finish the season with Laboral Kutxa before attempting an NBA comeback. He could begin play with the Spanish team as early as Saturday.
