Emma Roberts was arrested earlier this month after allegedly beating her boyfriend, fellow actor Evan Peters, until he was bloody. The two reportedly got physical with each other but by the time police arrived, it was Evan who had a bloody nose and bite mark which led to Emma’s arrest. Weeks after the incident, the pair is speaking out via their reps.

“It was an unfortunate incident and misunderstanding,” the reps claim in a statement to Us Weekly. “Ms. Roberts was released after questioning and the couple are working together to move past it.”

On July 7, someone in a nearby hotel room called the police after hearing the pair arguing. Once it was deemed that Emma was at fault in the dispute, she was hauled in to jail and released from custody a few hours later once Evan told police he didn’t want to press charges.

According to sources, the pair began hitting each other after a heated debate in the wee hours of Sunday morning in their Montreal hotel room before Emma escalated the situation with a hit to the face. As for the bite mark, a source close to Emma told TMZ she had nothing to do with it.

Emma and Evan began dating in spring of last year. They are set to work together on the upcoming series of American Horror Story which is set to debut in October on FX.
