VIDEO – Rihanna on Good Morning America Interview: “Eff Love”

 Rihanna Good Morning America Interview
In the first part of her 2-part ABC exclusive interview, Rihanna tells Diane Sawyer she regrets going back to Chris Brown after he beat her, because she didn’t want to send that kind of message to young girls. Rihanna is deeply aware of the impact her actions have on fans, and was moved by her deep sense of responsibility to leave Chris for good. She admitted that she was deeply in love with Chris, but thinks that that’s not a good enough reason for a woman to stay in an abusive relationships. Her message to young girls?

Don’t react off of love. F love. To come out of the situation and look at it third-person and for what it really is, you then make your decision. Because love is so blinding.

Rihanna is embarrassed by her decision to go back, but has since press charges against Brown, and part of his sentence is to have no contact with her for five years. Brown has since told Larry King that he still loves Rihanna, and she’s someone he would want to marry. Several days ago even he pined away for Rihanna on YouTube and Twitter.

The pop star is right, love can be blinding, and the past year must have been extremely difficult. It must be hard for her to see Chris Brown’s tweets, or the video he made for her if she is still in love with him, but she’s been able to make decisions based on what’s best for her. She’s also allowed herself to be empowered by how her decisions impact the well being of other young girls and women:

When I realized that my selfish decision for love could result into some young girl getting killed, I could not be easy with that part. I couldn’t be responsible … If Chris never hit me again, who’s to say that their boyfriend won’t … kill these girls? These are young girls. I just didn’t realize how much of an impact I had on these girls until that happened. It was a wake-up call for me, big time, especially when I took myself out of the situation.

Bravo Rihanna! You’re a very strong, classy lady, who’s lovely on the inside, and out. Most people don’t realize how their behavior impacts their friends, their children, or the many other people in their lives, but Rihanna is aware that her pop star status means her actions can affect millions (maybe billions). Instead of complaining about it, she’s using it as a guide to make better decisions.
