Charlie Sheen can’t believe he was so crazy last year

Charlie Sheen’s coming back to the small screen with FX’s Anger Management, and he’s a completely different guy than he was a year ago. In fact, even he can’t recognize the raving guy he was around this time last year.

When he visited The Today Show this morning he said all the interview footage of himself last year was “a little cringeable to watch because I don’t recognize part of who that guy was.” He even said that he was thinking about putting together a documentary using the footage from the interviews, his web series, and his tour, but was so embarrassed by his own behavior, he couldn’t bear the thought of presenting all that to the public again.

Charlie is a bazillion times better than he was last year. He hasn’t explained exactly what caused the breakdown, but he was on A LOT of drugs and alcohol. Charlie doesn’t believe in AA, but has been able to kick his habits by himself with the help of some close friends and family. TMZ did catch him drunk two weeks ago at a Guns N’ Roses concert, but he says he rarely drinks now, and thinks that it’s okay for him to have the occasional drink.

Anger Management, which ironically features Charlie Sheen as an anger management counselor, debuts June 28 at 9 PM on FX.
