Sure, a lot of people were betting a lot of money on the demise of Kim Kardashian, and even Katy Perry’s marriages, but NO ONE put any coin down on the prospect that Heidi Klum and Seal would divorce (Except probably some VERY cynical guy who’s now a billionaire thanks to this upset.)
TMZ reports that the couple that continually gushes about each other, hosts amazing Halloween parties, and renews their vows every year are set to file for divorce over the old “irreconcilable differences” routine. According to TMZ, Heidi will reportedly be the one to file in L.A. “as early as next week.” To further corroborate that this might be true, Heidi went to the Golden Globes last week solo. : ( UPDATE: Heidi and Seal have confirmed their split Sunday (January 22, 2012) night.
Here’s the statement they released to People:
“While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul-searching we have decided to separate.
“We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart. This is an amicable process and protecting the well-being of our children remains our top priority, especially during this time of transition.
“We thank our family, friends, and fans for their kind words of support. And for our children’s sake, we appreciate you respecting our privacy.”

Heidi (38) and Seal (48, real name Sealhenry Samuels) have always seemed fabulously in love. Just last October Heidi dished to Piers Morgan that the first time she met Seal in an NYC hotel lobby “it was kind of like two magnets.” Seal was fresh from the gym, and was wearing some hot bicycle shorts that really impressed Heidi. She told Oprah in 2007 she “was, like, wow! And I pretty much saw everything. The whole package.”
That first electric meeting was in 2004, and Heidi was pregnant with her ex-boyfriend Flavio Briatore’s baby. Seal has raised that child, Leni (7), as his own from day one. The couple also had three more children together: Henry, 6, Johan, 5, and Lou, 2.
Seal proposed Dec. 23 at 14,000 feet in Whistler, B.C. (a Canadian Ski resort town) on a glacier in an igloo inside of a snow cave. The igloo was built just for the occasion. After the chilly (but romantic) proposal, the couple when to Mexico, where Seal has a house, to warm up a bit. They later married May 10, 2005 on a Mexican beach.
Heidi was previously married Ric Pipino from 1997-2002. She dated Italian businessman Flavio Briatore for several months in 2003, but split with him, while pregnant, after he cheated with another woman.
It’s been a good ride, Heidi and Seal, we’ll miss you together.
Unfortunately, oftentimes in love, just like in fashion, one day you’re in, the next day you’re out!
