Anyone who has kept up with the girls of 16 and Pregnant this season knows that Jennifer Del Rio of Riverview, Florida and her baby’s father Josh Smith have had their fair share of drama. Their story was told in the second episode of the season and it included the now infamous scene in which Josh gets arrested after a heated argument with Jennifer over their twin boys Joshua and Noah.
After filming ended, the drama continued as multiple restraining orders were taken out by both Jennifer and Josh after numerous incidents including one that resulted in Josh’s nose being bloodied. We wrote an article recently about the latest chapter in the couple’s story that includes a court injunction granting Josh weekend custody rights for their twin sons, which then led to Jennifer taking both children and going into hiding!
There has been a lot of talk and lot of rumors floating around on the internet about the facts surrounding Jennifer’s most recent actions, as well as the real reason behind the arguments seen on the episode. Thankfully Josh was kind enough to talk with us again and offer up his side of the story to help clarify any confusion. (We would have liked to talk to Jennifer as well, but just like everyone else we have no idea where she is or how to get in contact with her.)
Taking things chronologically I suppose we should start from the beginning. During the 16 and Pregnant Reunion Special with Dr. Drew (which you were not at – we’ll address that in a moment) Jennifer says that she and you were best friends and that you both “did everything together.” Is that pretty accurate?
Yes, me and Jennifer did do everything just about every single day for almost a year and a half.
On the show Jennifer suggests that you were the one who changed, saying that prior to her getting pregnant you were “a completely different person.” Was it you or her or both who changed once you found out she was expecting?
I think we both changed in our own way. Something inside of Jennifer changed, not physically but mentally, and it took a toll on our relationship. We were both focused on the kids and not each other, and we should have been there more for each other. However, I do take responsibility. I should have shown her more affection – but everything was new to me.
She also mentioned on the show that she took out a second restraining order after you allegedly said you would see her in jail and raped. Did you say those things to her?
No. I never told her I would have her raped. One thing everyone needs to understand is Jennifer plays mind games and she loves to have everyone feel sorry for her.
Speaking of the Reunion Special, why was it you were the only baby daddy not on the show? Were you not invited or did you elect not to attend?
MTV thought it was best that I wasn’t there so they did not allow me to go. I wanted to but I wasn’t allowed. Instead I was at home with my son Joshua.
