Tami Roman is the newest edition to VH1′s Shauni O’Neal produced Basketball Wives, and she’s got quite a resume!

She landed a gig as part of the second season of MTV’s The Real World in Los Angeles, when this type of candid reality format was fresh and exciting. Tami, who then known as Tami Akbar and was an aspiring R&B singer, model, and actress who worked at an HIV clinic for money, kept the audience rapt with drama. She had an abortion on the show, and at one point got her jaw wired shut to lose weight.

After The Real World stint was over, Tami continued working for MTV as a VJ. She married basketball player Kenny Anderson in 1994, and left him in 1998 after learning that he cheated. They were officially divorced in 2001, and according to reports she successfully challenged a $5.8 million prenuptial agreement including $8500-a-month in child support. She even reportedly had a license plate made that read “HISCASH.” This goes against the claim she makes on Basketball Wives that she walked away from the marriage with the same $70,000 she had at the start. She mentions being so broke that she had to put her children on food stamps.

Throughout the years between MTV and now VH1 Tami landed small acting roles on television shows like “The Parkers,” and a few movie bits. She’s currently trying to launch her own film production company and is working on both a screenplay and a book based on her experiences as a basketball wife.

Kenny Anderson has been out of his children’s lives for many years, and they awkwardly reunite on the VH1 show. She also doesn’t fail to bring the drama to season two of Basketball Wives, expect to see her in quite a few spats before the curtain closes on this season.

I am glad someone is finally reporting the truth. Tami was also on Oprah talking about her victory. Either she was lying about the settlement. Or blew her money then went on food stamps. I believe she blew it and now blames Kenny Anderson for poor money management. P.S. she looks bad and her daughter are too young for fake hair.

I have to say for Evelyn saying she slept wth tami’s husband right after TAMI cried and felt like being honest about her feelings on how she it was nice to be a part of this show was messy.. and then sayin she wasnt even a $@$@^&&^ Factor??? who does that?? lets be honest anyone even know who EVELYN was prior to the show??? hell no…Shoot after bein dirty like that TO TAMI, but lets back track!!!! during the season when EVELYN GOT ALL EMOTIONAL about how she knows how it feels to have bitches mess with your man(ANTIONE FISHER) and how hard it was for her tears a fallin…BUT she is one of those same chicks.. who does who she wants and gets what is needed out of the situation regardless of who she hurts she doesnt care.. SHE HAS NO REMORSE FOR THE THINGS SHE DOES TO OTHERS.. HOWEVER I DO LIKE JEN.. she is trying really hard to make things right with her own situation and unfortunatley her man is not the one.. she has tried to meet in the middle and he clearly dont give a crap.. she is doing the right thing she dererves to have happiness// Royce well she is trying to find her way but I can say she does have her dancing to fall back on.. // shawnee she is coo even though she has alot to deal with coming with all these women… and last but not least.. I remember Tami from The Real World, I thought she was crazy then, especially “The Blanket Incident”. When a guy pulled the blanket off of her while she was in her bra and panties (ALL WHILE LAUGHING ABOUT IT) then claims he “tried” to rape her.

She is a joke, Shaunie will cut her if/when Season 3 comes.

  Just to confirm he was not trying to hurt or “rape” her it was all fun until she felt embarrassed. Maybe she quickly thought that could ruin her scoring a sugar daddy.

  Correction please..Tami said on HipHollywood interview that she did not claim David for a “rape” rather she said David is cool on that show. It was Beth who used that term for David. Tami did not mean anything during that incident she was a victim.Even if that’s a reality show, casts should have had the control and recognize between joke and embarassment to their co-casts. Tami deserved a respect though she was wearing bra and panties inside the Blanket( I’ve scene that video)and the next scene shouldn’t have happened.That’s hitting her below the belt!!!

  I agree. I remember watching that show as a teenager and thinking to myself…pulling a sheet off a woman in her bra and panties couldn’t possibly be rape…or is it?!? She was a camera whore then and it’s a shame that she is on television acting like a zoo animal. As a mother and someone who says they are a lady, Tami get it together.

The past is past. Tami deserves a second chance. Let’s give it to her. If you keep on dwelling to the past, there won’t be anything for you for the future. everyone does something stupid when they are younger, the good thing about Tami is that she learned from her mistakes. And with that I can assure you, Tami is an exceptional woman. She can do anything and she has a strong heart, your criticisms won’t kill her. she’s been through a lot. I hope that does count. And she survived on everything that she did. I really love her. She is really true!

I think Tami is the best one for this show. She is a woman that should be part of this show, for her reactions are really real. I think if people think that she is not classy, well, she doesn’t need to be classy, what you see is what you get. Not like those other people out there, who just acts like some real classy person, they are acting fake. I love Tami for she is truthful to herself. Not lying about what happened to her life. She is a true person and for that I really adore her. She is the best that you could ever get from this show.

Tami is an adorable woman, she reacted nicely on her divorce. And aside from that, she was able to support her children without the help of her husband. Men should be responsible. I hope that in the near future, Tami would find a great guy that would be able to give her the love and the care that this woman needs. She is a great woman, she deserves a responsible man.

She deserves a second chance people. She earns it and I think she needs to be heard. Her story is really heartwarming. People should really listen to her. Divorce and food stamps are real. As well as the fact that Kenny didn’t give any child support, there are a lot of family around the globe who is suffering from the same thing. She is an inspiration to a lot of people.
