Heavy snow in Minnesota proved too much for The Metrodome’s inflatable roof Sunday morning causing it to implode and release massive amounts of snow, ice and water onto the field! Here is shocking footage of the collapse taken from inside The Metrodome earlier this morning:

I love this shot of Pam Oliver, who probably had some serious doubts about broadcasting from inside the Metrodome!

Due to the severe bad weather the NFL had already rescheduled the game between the New York Giants and Minnesota Vikings to Monday night, but the collapse of the stadium, used by the Vikings since 1982, has necessitated a change of venue so the teams will play at Ford Field in Detroit instead. The game kicks off at 7:20 p.m. ET with free tickets available. From USA Today:

Those who had tickets to Sunday’s originally scheduled Giants-Vikings game in Minneapolis will be given priority seating if they attend the game in Detroit.

All other admission will be based on free general-admission tickets that will be distributed at the Ford Field box office starting at 9 a.m. ET on Monday.

“There were no injuries, which we’re thankful for,” said Bill Lester, the executive director of the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission.

Despite God’s intervention, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre still says he does not expect to play Monday night, which will snap his NFL record streak of 297 consecutive games started.
