Since Mel Gibson has had a problem with alcohol in the past, and because he sounded like a rage-filled drunk, everyone (including Whoopi Goldberg) kinda assumed that Mel Gibson was running on a quart of whiskey when he called Oksana up in a hate-fueled rage.
But now sources close to Mel, and even Oskana’s camp say Mel has hasn’t touched the sauce for over 3 years, so he was probably sober during those disturbing phone calls.
Wow! Somehow this situation got even worse. At least some of the edge (minuscule, but still) of Mel’s rants could have been explained by liquor or drugs, but if he was stone-cold sober, that’s a whole different story, and a whole different monster.
Of course, just because he’s been sober for three years doesn’t mean he didn’t fall off the wagon.
TMZ has a source saying that the day of the infamous phone calls from hell, Mel and Oksana attended a ceremony in their backyard where they planted the placenta of their daughter Lucia in the ground. It’s an Australian tradition Mel has done for all of his eight children, but things took a wild turn when Oskana laughed at something the gardener said and Mel flew into a jealous rage.
Does anyone care that those tapes were editted. Sure, he sounds ugly and a little nuts (clearly angry) but what did she really say? What was it all about anyway?
P.S. I think she’s a minipulative lyer, and I also think Gibson needs to do more to clear himself of this “hate” image. THe media seems to have declared war on him.
As a licensed drug counselor, I have heard the infamous tapes and while Gibson may…and I underline…MAY…. have been slightly intoxicated, he clearly knew what he was saying. His speech was totally coherent, and his entire thought process was intact. He likely drank truth serum and the contents of what he said are indefensible. No one can express themselves with that much clarity and have the excuse that the words are meaningless because they were drunk.
