Lifetime greenlights V.C. Andrews’ My Sweet Audrina movie, cast revealed

My Sweet Audrina

Lifetime and author V.C. Andrews are the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups of cable TV movie combos, and today it was revealed the successful partnership will continue as Lifetime has officially given the greenlight to a movie adaptation of Andrews’ novel My Sweet Audrina.

The My Sweet Audrina movie project has been rumored for more than a year now, and will be the fifth in a series of Lifetime adaptations of V.C. Andrews novels that began with Flowers In the Attic in 2014, which was viewed by more than 6 million people when it premiered! Flowers in the Attic was followed by three other adaptations in the Dollanganger series, including Petals on the Wind, If There Be Thorns and Seeds of Yesterday.

My Sweet Audrina will be the first non-Dollanganger novel given the Lifetime treatment. It is the only standalone novel published by Andrews during her lifetime and is about Audrina Adare, a young girl who has difficulty with memories. She is kept hidden by her family in a Victorian mansion in the Southeastern United States where she is haunted by nightmares of an older sister, also named Audrina, being attacked and left to die in the woods.

As you might expect, the rest of Audrina’s family (including father Damian, mother Lucietta, Aunt Ellsbeth and cousin Vera) know what happened to her sister — and Audrina slowly discovers the truth for herself.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed some of the main cast and crew for the project earlier today. The Secret Life of the American Teenager star India Eisley will be taking on the titular role of Audrina Adelle Adare, while Audrina’s father Damian Jonathan Adare will be played by Revenge‘s James Tupper. The Royals‘ William Moseley will reported play Audrina’s love interest, Arden.

India Eisley My Sweet Audrina

Star India Eisley (seen above in a still from the 2015 movie Social Suicide) tweeted excitedly about the project last week, including a photo of the script!

The India casting news has already gotten responses from V.C. Andrews’ devout fan base, but one concern expressed by a number of fans is easily answered: Yes, India Eisley is willing to go blonde for a role! Here she is from July of last year donning blonde hair for a role:

My Sweet Audirna India Eisley blonde hair

I should point out that I’m not saying India WILL be going blonde for the role of Audrina, merely that she has gone blonde in the past. (I can’t imagine she won’t though.)

Meanwhile, director Mike Rohl has been updating his Twitter followers throughout the casting process, revealing that some of the other major characters have also been cast:

My Sweet Audrina will begin filming soon in Vancouver. There is no premiere date yet, and it is still not known if it will be a movie or a miniseries, so stay tuned!

(The amazing photo tweeted by director Mike Rahl featuring the two girls is titled “Blood Brothers” by Jorge Remmy.)
