Lupe Fiasco removed from stage during Inauguration event after Obama bash

Lupe Fiasco's pre-Inauguration performance in Washington D.C.

It seems rapper Lupe Fiasco lived up to his surname during Sunday night’s pre-Inauguration StartUp RockOn event in Washington, D.C. According to reports, Lupe went on an anti-war tirade during his scheduled performance, admitting he hadn’t even voted for President Obama, which led to him being tossed from the stage.

“Lupe Fiasco just got thrown off stage here at the Hamilton Live after he went on an anti-Obama diatribe mid set,” The Cable‘s Josh Rogin tweeted, later adding, “Lupe played one anti-war song for 30 min and said he didn’t vote for Obama and eventually was told to move on to the next song. Lupe refused to move to the next song so a team of security guards came on stage and told him to go.”

However, the people who organized the event claim that although he was removed from the stage, it wasn’t because of his opinions of Mr. President.

“Lupe Fiasco performed at this private event, and as you may have read, he left the stage earlier than we had planned. But Lupe Fiasco was not ‘kicked off stage’ for an ‘anti-Obama rant,’” they said. “We are staunch supporters of free speech, and free political speech. This was not about his opinions. Instead, after a bizarrely repetitive, jarring performance that left the crowd vocally dissatisfied, organizers decided to move on to the next act.”

This isn’t the first time a rapper has been critical of the President. Back when Bush was running the country Kanye West had told the world that “George Bush doesn’t care about black people” during a Hurricane Katrina benefit.

lol too bad he had to leave the stage.

you know, for a peace nobel prize holder obama is quite the war lord! :S

i wish rappers would rap more about the patriot act and ndaa though. people dont realise whats going on right now. at least it seems like it, otherwise they wouldnt cheer and celebrate a “president” who acts like a dictator and takes away peoples civil rights.

      whats the saying again?

1984 wasnt supposed to be an instruction manual.

Lupe is anti-American. Listen to his music. He doesn’t care for anything you just mentioned. You’re just assuming someone who doesn’t like Obama must be a republican….

        • oh dear

i admit i have never listened to that rappers music. i commented on this article after seeing many other articles of how various celebrities performed at obamas inauguration. i got frustrated because they support such an obvious liar. so when i came to this blog and saw that ONE guy actually spoke up against obama i thought “hey, finally someone”. it doesnt matter to me what he usually does or raps about.

and huh? how am i assuming anything about anybody being a republican? lol!
people should by now have realised that whatever party a president is in, they always follow a certain agenda that has nothing to do with their partys interests but with the elites. the only time there is a differnce of policies between the two parties is before elections. afterwards, they do exactly the same sh*t, its just a different face attached to it.

any logically thinking human that likes freedowm should dislike obamas “executive orders” (same with bush who gave the american people the gift of the patriot act). unless you think a big brother state is fun, then of course, keep cheering on the current “president”.

It’s known that he’s anti-Obama so why was he invited to perform at the inauguration? The planners are idiots.

Yea okay, he was kicked off stage for the line ”Gaza was getting bombed, Obama didn’t say shit”. Lets not kid ourselves.
