Perhaps the most unforgettable character in the great Stephen King penned film The Green Mile is Percy Whitmore. He’s a young new prison guard fascinated with death and 51-year-old actor Doug Hutchison played him and his creepy undertones to perfection. Well the latest coming from Hutchison’s camp is also a little disturbing. He married his 16-year-old girlfriend and aspiring singer Courtney Stodden in Las Vegas last month.
In another well portrayed macabre role some Lost fans may remember Hutchison as Horace Goodspeed, leader of the ’60s-era Dharma Initiative. Yes, that dude has married his 16-year-old girlfriend. They told E that:
“We’re aware that our vast age difference is extremely controversial. But we’re very much in love and want to get the message out there that true love can be ageless.”
Update: Many have speculated that this was a publicity stunt and that Courtney has to be older than 16. The official marriage license says otherwise!
Courtney Stodden has a somewhat established singing career that’s at least far enough along to feature a few music video previews and a MySpace page so I thought I would provide a little bit of her singing talents. The first track is called “We Are America.”
And here is one more song from Courtney called “Don’t Put It On Me.”
In case you’re wondering and I know I was, the two were able to become legally married because a guardian of Courtney’s must have provided consent. I found the following Nevada rule in regards to this matter and it stated that:
If either partner is under 18, one parent or legal guardian must be present. If a parent can not be present, due to death, separation, divorce or other circumstances, proper evidence must be presented for verification. You will need a certified copy of your birth certificate. If you are under 16 you can not marry without a court order.
Courtney is represented by her husband’s company Dark Water whose mission is, “dedicated to the chaos, unrest and beauty of creation through artistic endeavor.” The site describes Stodden this way:
“…a young, hot, exciting, singer- songwriter, pop artist, actress, and model who has a brilliant career in progress! Dark Water and Courtney are presently collaborating on her 3-song CD demo entitled “All American Girl.”
