‘Wife Swap’ star arrested, charged with prostitution, drug possession
Most stars of reality shows are known to have had a brush with the law or two. Half the Jersey Shore cast has been arrested, a few Teen Mom stars have spent time behind bars and Big Brother has its fair share of wild ones as well. One show that hasn’t been in the press for their out of control cast members is Wife Swap, but that changed on Monday morning.
Alicia Guastaferro, who appeared on the show with her parents, was arrested alongside lawyer James D. Doyle early Monday after the car they were in was reported to be driving erratically through traffic. Upon searching for the vehicle, police found James asleep at the wheel in a service area.
According to Radar Online, James was charged with a DWI, patronizing a prostitute and giving alcohol to a minor. Alicia was charged with prostitution, possession of a controlled substance and criminal impersonation.
During the arrest, Alicia revealed that James pays her around $500 for sex. She also noted that although they were drinking prior to the incident, he is well aware that she is just 20-years-old. Alicia had yet to be paid for that night and explained that he typically pays her the morning after the sex.
Following her 2008 appearance on Wife Swap, Alicia had filed a $100 million law suit against ABC, claiming they misrepresented her. On the show, she was portrayed as a total brat whose parents gave her everything she wanted — they even kept a Christmas tree to symbolize their non-stop gift-giving. Two years after she filed the suit, the case is still pending.
