Yummy from Down East Dickering OUI arrest and 1956 throwback photo
Fans of History’s popular new show Down East Dickering know that Roland “Yummy” Roberson doesn’t have any problems getting himself seen or heard. Turns out the same can be said of Yummy when it comes to television appearances too!
On Aug 9, 2012 The Daily Show did a feature called Double-Wide World of Sports focusing on Hebron, Maine’s “Redneck Blank” (this is explained in the report). Yummy is featured in length as he could care less about taking the gold as a champion toilet seat tosser!
It was obvious from that clip that TV needed it some more Yummy. And did you notice Mitch making a cameo too?
Some extra Yummy tidbits… Back in July of 1980 Roland ran afoul of the law (no surprise here). Here’s a grab of the old newspaper clipping about the arrest:
You can keep up with Yummy (sort of) via his Facebook page here. As you might imagine, his wall features lots of references to pretty ladies, his winter adventures down in Florida and “smoking them big ole jibbers.”
Via the Portland Daily Sun, Yummy’s support of marijuana legalization was highlighted. He responded to a newspaper survey in which he was asked, “Should folks lose federally-funded assistance for having medical marijuana?” He said, “No. I am a medical marijuana user. If using it for a medical reason, why should they stop using it? The side effects of medical marijuana is less than the prescription they give you for the same treatment.”
And one last taste of Yummy yumminess. Roland’s sister shared this throwback photo of Yummy via Facebook that she says was from 1956! Roland lists his birthday as September 15, 1951:
Make sure to catch Yummy and the rest of the barter boys from Down East Dickering Wednesday nights on History.
