VIDEO Jason Isbell puts foolish fighting fan in his place
Former Drive-By Truckers musician Jason Isbell was confronted with a seriously dumb motherfu**er at a recent show in Madison, Wisconsin and the critically acclaimed alt-country star knew how to handle the situation.
Isbell is currently backing his solo release Southeastern, a wonderful work that appeared on a number of year-end best-of lists for 2013. While starting up the song “Never Gonna Change” the singer-songwriter noticed a scuffle happening in the audience.
He stopped the tune in its tracks and what transpired next is a lesson on how to handle a moron that’s ruining a good time for everyone else (warning, there is some explicit but pretty darn necessary language):
Isbell said in his certifiable southern twang:
“Hold on a minute. Hey, cut that sh*t out. You don’t come to a show and fight people. God da*n. I don’t give a sh*t, I’m about to get all y’all thrown out. All of ya. Is it that guy? You! Is it that guy? Somebody come over here and take this man outside. I’ll give you your money back; ain’t nothing you can do about it now. You’re gonna have to go. Ain’t no cause for that – argue with me, sh*t.”
Isbell apologized to the rest of the audience who greeted his dismissal of the rebel rouser with applause.
I was already a fan of Jason’s, now I’m even more so. If you’re not familiar with Jason’s solo work – here’s a personal favorite from Southeastern “Cover Me Up” from Austin City Limits:
