VIDEO Carolina Panthers’ Dante Wesley with a vicious illegal hit on Tampa Bay’s Clifton Smith

NFL Safety Dante Wesley of the Carolina Panthers was ejected from the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after a vicious hit on Tampa Bay punt returner Clifton Smith. Smith had signaled for a fair catch but the ball wasn’t even close to arriving when Wesley lowered his shoulder and hit him in the chest at full speed.

The hit lead to a skirmish on the field and a concussion for Clifton Smith, who was down on the field for a few minutes before walking off. Smith was diagnosed with a concussion and missed the remainder of the game. Certainly the league will be reviewing the play this week to determine a fine amount and possibly suspension for Wesley.
