USA World Cup hero John Brooks throwback childhood soccer photo
In what could easily have been the climactic conclusion to an amazing Disney movie, the USA soccer team held off a late rally by historical nemesis Ghana courtesy of a header goal from substitute John Brooks off a corner kick from teammate (and fellow substitute) Graham Zusi at the 86-minute mark. In honor of the huge victory, which gave the United States the full three points and putting them in second place in Group G behind Germany, I thought I would share the above throwback photo of John Brooks playing soccer as a kid in Germany.
I can just imagine telling that kid, “Do you know you will score a winning goal at the World Cup?” And that kid’s answer would be, “Yep!”
