When 61-year-old Jeanette Morris, a truck driver by trade, set out to get revenge on her ex-husband for regaling a lady at the house the two share, things took a turn for the worse leaving her ex, Robert Hall, with a broken pelvis, broken facial bones and bleeding in his brain after he was dragged nearly half-a-mile behind a pickup truck. This horrific act came after he was held up at gunpoint, beaten, shocked with a stun gun, and threatened with a scalping and burial.

Morris is facing charges of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, attempted murder, false imprisonment, aggravated battery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Her brother Harold Anderson, who was an accomplice, also faces charges of attempted murder, false imprisonment, aggravated battery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Another person, Joan Hobart who is said to be a friend of Morris, is accused of being the driver of the pickup truck in question. Hobart faces charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault.

Morris became angry with Hall when she learned that he had a woman at the house the two own. Morris told the cops that she had an agreement with Hall that he could stay at the home to take care of her animals while she was out of town and until she could repay a debt of $1,300 she owed him. Morris hadn’t been at the home in a while and had not agreed on Hall having any visitors there.

Anticipating that he might have his girlfriend present, Morris actually contacted the police for an escort when she returned home on Tuesday evening. The deputy eventually left the home after being convinced that Morris was going to stay at her brother’s house.

Instead, Morris, her brother and Joan Hobart started drinking vodka with Hall. The three turned on Hall, shocking him 3 times with a stun gun, punching him in his face and threatening his very life at gunpoint. Then they tied red twine around Hall’s wrists and neck and dragged him behind an F-150 Ford. After a half-mile the trio tossed Hall in the bed of the truck, cut off some of his hair and discussed scalping him and finding a hole to bury his body.

When the truck took off again Hall managed somehow to escape. He fled to a nearby house where he pleaded for help. The 911 call highlights Hall’s nightmare:

“I was just sitting in my living room and I had a gentleman walk up to my front porch. He’s in his underwear, he’s all bloody and he’s got a rope around his neck. He’s claiming that his wife’s son tried to beat him up, drive him down the road behind the pickup.”

Hall still remains in the surgical intensive care unit of Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach
