The on-again, off-again relationship between pop stars Katy Perry and John Mayer appears to be off — again — as a source with E! is stating that the two are split.
This comes after engagement rumors circulated when Perry was seen wearing a massive diamond ring last week at the Elle Style Awards in London. The only thing the source revealed to E! was that Perry had broken up with Mayer “in the last few days.”
The “Roar” singer has publicly gushed about John on many occasions having called him a “genius,” and that she’s, “been a fan of John’s for years before I got to actually kiss him.”
Mayer has proven to be the celebrity-dating Don Juan of his day with former flames including Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jessica Simpson, Minka Kelly, Jennifer Aniston and Taylor Swift.
UPDATE: US Weekly spoke to three sources who confirmed the breakup. One of them expressed doubt that the breakup would last, another said “She’s stressed about the tour, they’ve been fighting,” but said that these breakups with the stars “happen all the time.” The third source said “They’ve had rough patches, but this may be for good.”
Perry’s marriage to actor Russell Brand was dissolved in July of 2012.
