REPORT Amanda Bynes’ hospitalization may be long-term
It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything from the Amanda Bynes front. In this case, that’s a good thing. According to reports that have emerged from those acquainted with Amanda’s psychiatric treatment, doctors are fine-tuning the actress’ medications.
“Given time and the correct treatment and medicine, Amanda could and should absolutely be able to live with it and be a productive member of society,” a source told Radar Online of Amanda’s treatment for schizophrenia.
It also seems Lynn Bynes’ conservatorship over her daughter is proving to be beneficial. One of the first major decisions Lynn made as conservator was to move Amanda from a Ventura County facility to the UCLA psychiatric unit, where patients reportedly have more privacy from the media.
Even though Amanda and her doctors seem to be making progress, there’s still a long way to go.
“There has been some improvement… However, her diagnosis is complex, and the appropriate drug cocktail to treat her hasn’t been achieved yet,” the source said. The source added Amanda hasn’t been formally diagnosed with schizophrenia, but is being treated for it.
As achieving the appropriate cocktail of drugs may take months of trial and error, Amanda’s treatment team reportedly suggests hospitalization through the end of the year — at least.
“She has her good days and bad days, and the goal is obviously to get her therapeutic and stable before being released. Lynn needs to be granted permanent conservatorship because Amanda wouldn’t agree to continue with treatment.”
If all continues to go well, the next time we should hear about Amanda will be on September 30. That is when a judge will decide whether Lynn’s temporary conservatorship should be made permanent.
