Webbie was arrested early this morning and no, it wasn’t a crime of fashion for his uni-brow. The rapper, whose real name is Webster Gradney, allegedly got into a disagreement with a woman at a Louisiana hotel which got so intense that he resulted to kicking her down two sets of stairs — and that’s not all. Webbie then stole $340 out of her purse.
According to a police report filed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Webbie was banned from the Chase Suite Hotel only to return and allegedly attack a woman, kicking her down not one but two sets of stairs. He then proceeded to take her purse and steal the $340 that was inside. He was arrested on the premises at 2:30 a.m.
Although the details surrounding the incident are unclear, a rep for Webbie talked to TMZ and tells a completely different story. He claims that Webbie had met the woman he allegedly assaulted and robbed at a party earlier that night and although he admits that Webbie did take the money from her purse, he claims that the money belonged to Webbie and she had stole it from him first.
The rep maintains that Webbie did not rob the woman nor did he assault her and will fight the accusations made.
Webbie was released today on $9,000 bond.
This isn’t Webbie’s first brush with the law. Last year, he was arrested in Tennessee for marijuana possession and back in January, he was questioned in a nightclub shooting. Luckily, no charges were ever filed against him in that case.
