Ever since Alana Lee’s “Butterflies” video went berserk with the YouTube views, yours truly here at Starcasm has had comments and received emails with one question more than any other: Who is the boy in Alana’s video?
There was another question that also popped up with frequency: Who was the mean girl in Alana’s video?
We can now answer both questions to the satisfaction of all Alana fans out there, and in so doing perhaps help create even more fans for the actors in her video. So without further ado:
The boy who gave Alana her “butterflies” is none other than Anthony Ballestero, and the girl who tried to clip Alana’s butterfly wings is named Kyndall Slotemaker!
According to Anthony’s MySpace account, he’s a HUGE fan of basketball: LeBron, Dwyane and Chris Bosh, to name just three, mark him as a fan of the Miami Heat; Scottie Pippen shows Anthony admires one of the classiest players from the Chicago Bulls dominators. He’s also a big fan of hip/hop, he “hates” books (maybe just school books?), and his biggest heroes are “me, my family, Jesus and God.”
Hopefully now he’ll add to his list of heroes the casting agent, director and star of “Butterflies”, because he’s been getting a lot of positive attention of late because of them!

He also said on his MySpace profile that he is divorced, a proud parent and has the occupation of “beast” with an income of “$250,000 and higher.” Therefore, Starcasm concludes that what Anthony actually has is a sense of humor!
Here’s Anthony’s current profile pic from Facebook, showing his sense of humor and fun, with an unknown mystery girl that … might be his girlfriend? Hmmm….
One place we’ve learned that Anthony got his acting training is Camp Bravo, a young actor’s training school in the San Bernardino National Forest. Aspiring actors might want to check this place out!
As for Kyndall Slotemaker, the mean girl from Alana’s video, she can’t possibly be as mean as she looks, right?
It turns out she’s not. Kyndall is a 13-year-old student at El Rancho Charter School in Anaheim Hills, the same school attended by Alana Lee. In fact, the two have been friends for years – her friendship with Alana is what scored her the role of “mean girl” in the video “Butterflies.” While taking Music Theater classes, she has piled up some well-deserved accolades in singing and acting, including 1st place in her school talent show singing a country pop song, the lead role of Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, and she is reportedly an amazing tumbler, competing alongside her all-star level teammates that are 17 and 18 years old!
She’s a very driven girl with a broad range of acting talents, which is why a nice girl like Kyndall can pull off the portrayal of a nasty mean girl that crumples up Alana’s butterfly drawings! Her next goal is to build up her resume in acting or singing, perhaps getting a gig on a Disney Channel show. I think we can all safely say that Kyndall not only has what it takes, but thanks to Alana Lee and “Butterflies”, she is definitely getting the attention she needs to get there. Congratulations, Kyndall!
