Kat Von D may have been engaged for a couple of weeks now, but the famous tattoo artist and star of LA Ink had yet to debut the black diamond engagement ring her fiance Deamau5 had custom designed just for her. The ring, which is surrounded by four skulls, is definitely a bit unconventional, but would you expect anything else from these two?
Just after midnight on December 23, Kat told fans, “Tonight, Joel put a ring on my finger-Too taken aback by it’s beauty and it’s meaning to post a pic right now.” But it didn’t take her long to share her new bling. Around noon that same day, Kat posted the first photo of her engagement ring along with the caption, “Doesn’t get anymore official!” She then added, “The biggest thank you to @thegreatfrogLDN for handcrafting the most important ring I will ever wear.”
Deadmau5, real name Joel Zimmerman, originally proposed to Kat on December 14, tweeting, “I can’t wait for Christmas so… Katherine Von Drachenberg, will you marry me?” The two had begun dating in September of this year but split briefly in November.
Kat Von D was previously married to fellow tattoo artist Oliver Peck but they parted ways in 2007 after four years of marriage. Following their split, Kat dated Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx for two years. In 2010, Kat began dating Jesse James. They became engaged in early 2011 but split that September.
Deadmau5 previously dated Playboy Playmate Lindsay Evans for two years. They split in September of last year.
