Gypsy Sisters star Nettie Stanley and husband Huey Stanley are still mourning the loss of his son Huey “Rocky” Stanley, who was stabbed to death during an altercation outside the YMCA in Kingsport, Tennessee last month. In a small ray of light in an otherwise dark and tragic situation, Rocky’s daughter Raquel Star (named after her dad, who was often called Rockstar) was born the day after his death. This weekend Nettie shared some beautiful photos of her and Huey with Raquel, just days before what would have been Rocky’s 23rd birthday.
“Huey was hurt when he first saw [Raquel’s mom] Stella n the baby,” Nettie wrote in the comments section of the photo album, “and thank the lord he was able to love and enjoyed [it].” Nettie talked further about how emotional Huey was when meeting his granddaughter, and that it was almost too much for him. “I’m so happy that he made it through without passing out I was soooo worried about him,” Nettie wrote, “and btw he kept his glasses on because he didn’t want no one to see him crying.”
Here are a few more photos of Huey and Raquel after grandpa was able to take off the sunglasses:
Nettie also posted this gorgeous photo of herself with Raquel and captioned it, “And me and this beautiful little angel God left for us.”
Nettie added in the comments, “I was soooo happy to see her and Stella and auntie, little rockstar is a true gift from god.”
On Tuesday, which would have been Rocky’s birthday, Nettie shared a photo of him and wrote, “Happy 23rd Birthday Rocky you’ll always be in my heart body soul and mind but we have to no you are having the best birthday EVER I WILL LOVE YOU FOREVER.”
She shared a photo of Rocky’s grave, which included a photo and birthday cake that had been made for him:
Our thoughts are still with Huey, Nettie and the rest of Rocky’s friends and family. Gypsy Sisters returns to TLC on Sunday, May 31. It is our understanding that they will address Rocky’s death on the show, although it will certainly be very painful to watch.
