PHOTOS Couple spent $300K to look like Barbie and Ken dolls
A French couple that lives by the motto “plastic is fantastic” is on a joint mission to transform into real-life Barbie and Ken dolls. To date, Anastasia Reskoss and Quentin Dehar have spent $300,000 on cosmetic surgeries and plan to have more operations in the near future. They also want to legally change their names to “Barbie” and “Ken.”
“We want to spend the rest of our lives together morphing into the dolls we love,” Anastasia, 20, told The Daily Mail. She and Quentin, 23, began their missions separately as teenagers before they met in 2013. Recalling their “love at first sight” encounter, Anastasia said, “We were at a boat party in Saint Tropez and Quentin walked over to me and said: ‘I’ve found the Barbie to my Ken… It was so straightforward. We both knew we had met a partner who was going to enable us to become the Ken and Barbie we had always dreamed of being.”
Although Anastasia said she most admires Barbie’s beauty, Quentin said he loves Ken’s “billionaire lifestyle.” He explained, “I told myself that I had to go back to the idol of my childhood and become Ken… But it was not just Ken’s looks that inspired me – it was also his dream billionaire lifestyle. I aspired to have the flashy cars and luxury designer clothes that my Ken doll had.”
Quentin’s had his lips done “five or maybe eight” times, his cheekbones, forehead, temples, ears, nose and veneers. In the future, he wants to have his pecs augmented. Anastasia’s matched most of those procedures — and also went from a 32C to a 32E. They also do regular teeth-whitening appointments, get Botox, workout with trainers and get anti-aging treatments in their attempts to emulate the Mattel dolls. Some of the work is covered by their parents and other procedures have been funded by Quentin’s “successful mobile phone shops.” Anastasia said her parents don’t mind all of the surgeries because, “My parents would rather have a teenage daughter who takes care of her appearance than one who takes drugs.”
Although they certainly aren’t the first to attempt the transformation into real-life dolls, Quentin said he thinks they’ve done it best because they have the “French touch.” He explained other Kens from around the world are “a bit low-cost” while he’s the luxury version. They have some critics, but Anastasia said they don’t mind because she just considers it jealousy “of our amazing lifestyles.” She wants others to know “everyone can be beautiful and everyone can improve themselves with cosmetic work.”
