PHOTO Johnny Depp gets honorary AARP cover for 50th birthday

AARP Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp received a surprise as the AARP tweeted the above cover image of the actor for his 50th birthday!

The American Association of Retired Persons sent out the image on June 9 with the following, “Johnny Depp turns 50 today. Fave JD role? Edward Scissorhands? Capt Sparrow?” It’s important to note this isn’t the actual cover of the hugely popular magazine distributed by the powerful association for folks 50 and over — just an honorary one.

In case you aren’t familiar, here’s AARP’s “Who We Are” via their official website:

AARP is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, with a membership of more than 37 million, that helps people turn their goals and dreams into real possibilities, strengthens communities and fights for the issues that matter most to families such as healthcare, employment security and retirement planning. We advocate for consumers in the marketplace by selecting products and services of high quality and value to carry the AARP name as well as help our members obtain discounts on a wide range of products, travel, and services.

As for my personal favorite Johnny Depp role? I’d have to say it was his turn as Gilbert Grape in the 1993 standout film What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. Happy belated birthday to Mr. Depp — what’s your fav Depp role?
