PHOTO First look at Syfy’s Piranhaconda

Syfy monster movie poster for Piranhaconda

The Syfy network has created a monster with its series of low-budget horror movies featuring terrifyingly hilarious genetic mash-ups like Sharktopus, DInoshark and Mansquito. The newest creature feature currently being rushed through the Syfy film factory could be the greatest Syfybrid of them all! Meet Piranhaconda!

The film is produced by Roger Corman (Dinocrocs, Dinosharks, Supergators, and the schlocky Syfy superstar, Sharktopus) and will star Michael Madsen (Kill Bill) and Rachel Hunter (most of the posters in my bedroom). According to Entertainment Weekly the movie features “a low-budget horror movie crew, inept kidnappers, and a reptile expert battling a monstrous anaconda/piranha hybrid in the Amazon jungle.”

Although we have been provided conceptual illustrations of the reptilian fish we haven’t seen what it will actually look like in the movie.

Until now!

Piranhaconda prop head from EW

Entertainment Weekly unveiled this photo of the head of Piranhaconda apparently hanging out in some random parking lot. The site assures us that there will also be a body, although they can’t say the same for a plot.

Although he (she?) has the face only a mother could love, Piranhaconda needs your help! The Syfy network has set up a March Madness style bracket pitting 32 of their bestest beasties against one another in a winner-take-all bloodbath! Piranhaconda has advanced to the second round by defeating Swamp Devil but is currently locked tooth and tail in a schlock down, drag out battle with Mansquito! So get over to the site and help out the newbie Syfybrid!

It’s worth the click just to browse through the monster gallery which features flash cards for all the monsters just like Piranhaconda’s at the top of this post. The cards also feature a flipside with the creature’s 411. Here’s Piranhaconda’s:
