Professional basketball player/reality TV star Lamar Odom stayed quiet throughout a summer of controversy. Now, sources say the husband of Khloe Kardashian is seriously considering an offer to sit down with Oprah for an exclusive interview.
“He’s shy and doesn’t really want to be talking about his problems with everybody. But no matter the circumstances, you can’t turn Oprah down, not even Lamar,” a source close to Lamar told Hollywood Life. “And his family, his blood, thinks it’s a good idea for him.”
Other sources from Oprah’s camp confirmed to TMZ they have approached Lamar for an interview. The insiders added anything would be fair game, including Lamar’s reported drug struggles and marriage troubles.
Although the potential subjects are daunting, Lamar and Oprah do have some history that would likely serve to comfort the “shy” athlete: Lamar joined the Kardashian-Jenner family for a 2012 special.
Oprah is famously willing to ask the hard questions during interviews, but she’s also a pretty calming presence. That balance has helped her earn hard-to-get discussions with some of the most embattled celebrities from the past few decades. Most recently, she talked with Lindsay Lohan about the former teen star’s addiction struggles.
With both of those factors at work, Lamar’s friend said he would probably share more with Oprah than with any other reporter.
“He can’t lie to Oprah. And if he even tried, she’d catch him and check him. He can’t bullsh*t with her or himself because she won’t allow it. He would be forced to tell the truth and get everything off his chest. He’d probably open up and tell Oprah all his skeletons — even sh*t that his family and wife don’t know. Lamar needs to do this.”
