‘Precious’ was a breakout box office star this weekend pulling in $1.8 million from only 18 theaters

Precious is a break out box office success

Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire opened with a bang in three U.S cities (Atlanta, New York, and L.A.) this weekend, pulling in $1.8 million in 18 theaters. For those of you like me who can have a little trouble with math, that’s a whopping $100,000 per theater. A Christmas Carol, which finished in 1st place this weekend with $31 million, only pulled in about $8417 per theater. You can bet this movie is gonna kill when it opens to more cities November 13, and goes to wide release November 20.

Above is a pic of the actress who played the title role, Gabourey Sibide at the Hollywood premier November 1, and below are Oprah and Tyler Perry who joined forces to produce and present this low-budget film. They’re probably dizzy right now from the thrill of promoting a movie that’s gonna make them a lot omoney AND change people’s lives. I’m not being overly dramatic, this is a potent movie. While you wait for Precious to come to a city near you, read more about the movie here.
