Oklahoma man accused of killing stepfather via “atomic wedgie”

Brad-Lee-Davis-Mug-Shot33-year-old ex-Marine Brad Lee Davis was arrested and jailed yesterday on a first-degree murder complaint in Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma following a December 21 brawl in which he told authorities he gave his stepfather, Denver St. Clair, an “atomic wedgie.” St. Clair, 58, died from the altercation.

NewsOk reports that Pottawatomie County Sheriff Mike Booth admitted that he had never heard of an atomic wedgie until Davis informed investigators of the action, using exactly that terminology.

Booth said:

“I’d never seen this before, but when we first looked at our victim seeing the waistband of his underwear was around his neck.”

Davis told the police that the two got into a scuffle when St. Clair began “speaking ill of his mother” after the former went by the latter’s home for a visit. After Davis allegedly pummeled St. Clair to the ground he told the authorities that his stepfather was “still moving and moaning” and it was at this point that he yanked the underwear up over St. Clair’s head.

The medical examiner ruled that St. Clair died from both blunt force trauma to the head and asphyxiation “caused by the elastic underwear band being stretched over the decedent’s head and left around his neck.”

According to court records, St. Clair was under a permanent protective order filed back in 2008 by his wife, and the mother of Brad Lee Davis, Tressia Ann St. Clair. She lived in the home where Denver St. Clair was killed.

Tressia St. Clair claimed in the protective order that she found her husband embraced in a “sexual way” with a drinking buddy and that he later grabbed her by the neck and threw her through a bathroom door.

Davis is currently being held in jail without bond. He faces a maximum of life in prison if he’s convicted on the murder count.
