Nicole Kidman has been happily married to Keith Urban since 2006, when they got engaged after one month of dating. Although that progression may seem pretty accelerated to most of us, Nicole said she actually enjoys the “spontaneous” route to marriage.
“I jump in. I kind of like getting married and then getting to know each other,” she told the January 2015 edition of Elle. (I’m including the cover because she wears one of the most interesting outfits I’ve seen in a while.) Nicole continued, “I know that it sounds incredibly strange, but to me, it’s a more natural process.”
Although the method didn’t work out as well with her union to Tom Cruise, Nicole spoke fondly of her first husband and their experience filming Eyes Wide Shut.
“We loved it. Everyone thought that was when our marriage started to break down — not at all,” Nicole said of the 1999 movie, which took two years to shoot. “That movie was a great part of our life together, and I’m glad we have it.”
During the interview, Nicole, 47, also confessed she wishes she was pregnant.
“I had my last one at 43. My grandmother had her last at 49. Every month, I’m like, ‘I hope I’m pregnant,'” Nicole commented when she noticed the interviewer was expecting. Her publicist chimed in to say that was “off the record,” but Nicole said it was fine to include. “Why not, right? I wish I was!”
