Nick Gordon “shaking in his boots” in Bobbi Kristina case

Whitney Houston and Bobbi Kristina Brown Passing

Nick Gordon has not commented publicly on the abuse charges Bobbi Kristina’s family filed against him. But Gordon’s family says he’s a “scapegoat,” and are proclaiming his innocence.

Gordon himself is holed up in his Orlando-area duplex, checking the internet and TV for any and all updates on Bobbi Kristina’s condition. Gordon’s relatives, though, have taken to updating the media on his behalf–and they aren’t pleased with the legal decisions that Bobbi Kristina’s family has made over the past few days.

Speaking to People, a “close relative” of Gordon’s shared the family’s thoughts on the matter:

He feels – and we all feel – like Nick has been a scapegoat in this case. It’s scary for him, because he hasn’t done anything wrong. He is completely innocent. He has always cooperated with police, and he has nothing to hide. Anyone who looks at the facts would see that.

The same relative did confirm that “it’s a stressful time” for Gordon, and said “He’s not doing too well, but he’s being as strong as he can.”

This week, Bobbi Kristina’s family filed a $10 million civil lawsuit against Nick Gordon. The suit claims that Gordon is responsible for both mental and physical domestic abuse against Bobbi Kristina–the “substantial bodily harm” that Gordon did to her includes bruising her face (by unknown means), knocking out a tooth, and, most damning of all, leaving her facedown in the bathtub where she was found unresponsive on January 31st.

The lawsuit also claims that Gordon posed as Bobbi Kristina’s husband in order to manipulate her finances and steal money from her. Over a period of months, Gordon stole $11,000, the suit alleges. That figure does not include any bills or other utilities paid for by Bobbi Kristina.

Ian Halperin, the writer whose just-released book Whitney & Bobbi Kristina: The Untold Price of Fame also alleges abuse by Gordon’s hand, says he believes Gordon is “shaking in his boots”:

This is a clear-cut case of negligence, of abuse, of foul play. And right now, Nick Gordon is shaking in his boots. I have spoken today to members of Bobby Brown’s family, and they want justice immediately….[Gordon and Bobbi Kristina] had joint accounts. Nick insisted on it. There were fancy cars. There was fancy jewelry. There were trips. We won’t know until a proper investigation is done. But I’ll tell you right now it’s much more than $11,000.

This week, Bobbi Kristina was moved to a hospice care facility in Atlanta. Her family has rushed to be by her side.
