NFL Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor arrested for rape

NFL Hall of Famer, and possibly the greatest defensive football player of all time, Lawrence Taylor has been arrested in the town of Ramapo, New York on suspicion of rape.

The 51-year-old former New York Giants linebacker was accused of raping someone at a Holiday Inn in Suffern, New York.

The Town of Ramapo Police Department is currently investigating a reported rape that occured 5/6/10 in the early am hours at the Holidome Hotel in Montebello, NY.

Currently under arrest is Lawrence J. Taylor DOB 2/4/59 of Pembroke Pines, FLA. Formal charges will likely be filed upon the completion of our investigation.

Additional information will be released later today at a press conference that is tentatively scheduled for sometime between 2:00 and 4:00pm at the Town of Ramapo Town Hall.

UPDATE – TMZ is reporting that the acuser is a 16-year-old girl reported as a runaway from the Bronx in March. The girl reportedly had a pimp, who has also been arrested, and was sporting a black eye, although it is unclear at this time who gave her the shiner. Taylor reportedly paid the girl $300 for her services.

Police found L.T. asleep in a hotel room when they arrived and recovered a condom from the scene. Taylor’s wife, Lynette Taylor, told TMZ that the accusations are all “bullsh!t” and part of a set-up:

Lynette claims that the timing of the arrest is suspicious because it came just days after LT was featured on an A&E documentary called “Fame and Recovery” which she believes “made him out to be a monster.”

Lynette wouldn’t expand on who she thought could be behind such a plot, but she was adamant that the timing of the show and the arrest were no coincidence.
